Taking care and storage of jewelry is very important to maintain a shiny and beautiful piece. It will fade, chips, and crack if not properly taken care of.
Below is how you can take care of your jewelry
Take off your jewelry before going to the gym or doing any sports
Clean your jewelry with a soft, clean cloth. You can buy jewelry cleaning clothes from any jeweler or some boutique do sell them.
Different jewelry has different ways of cleaning. Sort out imitation, pearls, gold, silver, and use a different cleaning method. Keep each group in a bag or box. Make sure the container for storing pearls is not too tight or airtight that can cause damage.
Store your jewelry in zipping or drawstring purses/bags preferable bags made with soft fabric (cotton, velvet, or chintz). You can also store your jewelry in wooden boxes lined with foam and soft cotton.
Keep your necklaces and bracelet clasped to keep them from getting tangled.
Avoid dropping your jewelry and also try to bag a single item per bag to avoid sharp jewelry from scratching or destroy others.
Use cleaners for cleaning silver jewelry. Don't leave your jewelry in the cleaning dip for more than a few seconds. Dry them properly.
Polish your platinum and silver jewelry to avoid tarnishing at least once a month.
Gemstone jewelry needs to be taken extra care of and you can do this by cleaning with a soft brush and mild soapy water. Clean these items using a jewelry cleaning solution as recommended by a professional.
Clean antique jewelry only with the advice of a specialist or you risk ruining it. Avoid acids and chemicals near your jewelry.
